i'm not sure if i can give you any suggestions, i admire your art, you see, and i think it's perfect the way it is although probably could be even better with a background more detailed , but maybe i'm just personally crazy about detailed backgrounds, that's why i state so , i would probably put some millions of tree branches or roots in the background all linked with each other, with complicated shapes and so on but as i said i'm a bit crazy about over-detailed backgrounds, so better go your own artistic path and don't even listen to me you rule
this pice somehow makes me think of poor Lavinia from Shakespeare's "Titus Andronicus" wooo that was scary fate for a woman indeed

hmmm what could be below her waist?? actually you know what.. i think it looks pretty nifty the way it is.. Maybe just keep it like it is?

And ask far as the backgroud.. i think a lot would be lost with a more detailed background.. i think its great the way it is.. with no background!

the only thing i really think you should DEFINATELY leave the way it is is the background.. and the rest just looks complete to me.. so Whatever you, the artist, feels is good and done.. should be what you, the artist, does

You know how I love things all strung up on wires. I say leave the darkness empty. The black area puts more emphasis on the heart as being important. Leave it black. j
